The Perfect Weekend Away

I had a couple of hectic weeks at the start of February, partying like it was Christmas so decided to recoup at Turnberry Hotel, in Ayrhsire, Scotland. I can so recommend it if you need to recharge the batteries and get some good Scottish air into your lungs!

They have a wonderful, award winning spa, championship golf courses(not for me, but the husband enjoys!), access to many outdoor sports and some beautiful walks along the coastline with views to Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran. Delicious food also you can choose from a number of different restaurants and menus; we wanted low key so ate in the Bar it was excellent.

We travelled by Ryanair ... and that I cannot recommend! Apart from all the rules they have, trying to catch you out so they can take more money from you, the staff are rude and unhelpful I am sure they are trained to treat their customers in that way. I think I have worked it out the owner would prefer you not to fly once you have bought your ticket ... as this way he also gets to pocket the tax that you have paid. The tax only gets passed on to the government if you actually fly; if you do not fly for whatever reason they will not refund you the tax as they say the admin cost to do such is too high!! What a con! And a lovely little nest egg for Sir Michael OLeary ... he gets to pocket the tax. This system should surely be reviewed?
